Insigna today
Since the 1990s, Flavio Ferrari, son of founder Francesco Ferrari, has steered the company toward a new phase with tenacity and foresight. Under his leadership, Insigna has expanded its scope, evolving beyond its historic core of illuminated signage production to offer turnkey design and furnishing solutions for stores and offices, as well as comprehensive brand communication strategies across both outdoor and indoor spaces. Depending on the project, Insigna can operate independently or in close collaboration with designers and architectural firms.
In 2016, the third generation joined the company—Bianca Ferrari, daughter of Flavio and granddaughter of Francesco. With her came fresh energy and new agility to navigate the evolving retail and workplace sectors. Insigna continuously adapts to the rising demand for sustainability and the latest trends in design and architecture, from technology to materials. At the same time, it remains true to its core identity: a dedication to excellence and meticulous care, treating every client and project as a unique story.
The expertise Insigna has built over more than 75 years in illuminated signage is a unique asset that continues to make a difference in projects where light plays a crucial role. Insigna provides clients with a thorough analysis of all the factors that can influence the opening or renovation of a space: technological possibilities according to function and available resources, research into colours and creative trends, up-to-date knowledge of materials, and the ability to localise brand identity effectively.
And it does all this with an Italian style that seamlessly blends art and technique, aesthetic research and practicality, distinctive flair and economic sustainability. It is hard to imagine Insigna anywhere other than Milan—a city where image design has long been a defining vocation. Today, Insigna continues to do what it has always done, with the same enthusiasm and professionalism as ever. Yesterday, we made signs for shops. Today, we create stores that become signs and spaces that become identities.
